Donut Quest Linux and Windows Donut Quest 2.0
I am here to announce a Linux version of Donut Quest. It will be written in GAMBAS and will have some advancements over the Windows predecessor like a 3D mode. All these add ons however will also be added in Donut Quest 2.0 for Windows. 8)

Will Donut Quest 2.0 for Windows be a back port from Linux through VB?

Will Donut Quest 2.0 for Windows be a back port from Linux through VB? No. For one thing I doubt you VB idea will work and two it may sound strange to you but sometimes it is easier to use two different code bases. They will share the graphics and sounds but the code will be different. That way we do not need to make the Windows version from the scratch.

So you will do a GameMaker version for windows then a Gambas one for Linux?

So you will do a GameMaker version for windows then a Gambas one for Linux? Pretty much.

Just as a redirect and an update, we are working on version 1.5 of the Windows version instead. It is being built to cure the only minor hiccups we have had with it in WINE as well as add new features. We would add the already stated "3D mode" but Malcolm Wilson Multimedia (who makes the graphics and music) does not currently have a working modeler. Also noting that a Linux port idea is not dead, just currently we have more important Linux projects.

There was an idea for another Brogo game focusing on Goomo, Brogo the robot's pet mouse. It was mostly involving him running away from the black cat (based on our Slinky) who has recently appeared so prominently in the "Black Cat and Goomo as a Rat" showdown comics. It would appear in side-scrolling and over-head scrolling views (movement for the former with keyboard, the latter with mouse destination drops like in AoE), and Gomoo would also be after cheese (though I have never ever heard of a mouse eating cheese, electrical cords yes but cheese no, I wonder who popularized this stereotype? Probably Warner Brothers and others). We had a title for it "Run, Goomo, Run", it is in basics akin to a children's book narrative: "See Goomo, See Goomo Run, * Vicious Black Cat Enters* RUN GOOMO RUN!" (Malcolm, the cartoonist for Brogo did make a comic art for the game along that line) It had received some slight work based on another game I made on Game Maker 5, though If we were to revisit we would be keen to do it in Gambas. So what if there is a good chance that most Brogo readers use MS Windows. They can just use the Fedora Live-CD! There where also some other game ideas brainstormed, the oddest being another Ed Donut themed one that was a Lord of the Rings spoof (figure out why, O).
