Free Empires: Age of War We have started development on our first FreeDOS game (actually it is being developed in DosBox on Fedora 8). Free Empires: Age of War is to be a statistical game wagging battles using probability. It is still in its early stages. It will not be actually tested in FreeDOS till we can get it on one of our machines (just need that stupid bare bone kit to work!).The language is QBasic through version 4.5. Easily accessible throughout the internet. Any ASCII art would be appreciated, send through a text file or just as a forum post. I hope to finish it by late April at the latest. 8) This would make there be a reason for that little blue fish on the forum banner,

Development is going well, the game is advancing from a vague idea into a real game, I have been hacking together many crucial engine bits. I shall upload a screen shot soon.

Development is not progressing at a moment as their is a numeric bug that I need to cure, I am researching my QB book (Beginning Programming for Dummies First Edition) and I do believe that I can fix it eventually, To think this would not be a problem if I was building this in Gambas. I got some good ASCII art from online sources that make the game look nice! Once the aforementioned bug is cured I should be able to produce something usable thing soon, but then comes the hard part: enemy AI.
Getting a screenshot is being obstructed by DosBox taking full control of the keyboard not allowing Gnome to detect my capture screen command.

Ironicly enough, this may in fact get a command line Linux port. See Gambas Adventure Engine (Text) for more info.

Okay, I have created two screenshots. One of the place where you input names and the other the main game GUI.
Unfortunately my host does not allow me to directly link to my images, instead left click them and click "View Image".
Development Block Exploded Okay! I have just busted through my main bug and development is now ensuing well, got numeric strings and calculations fixed. I have also found some probability code for GAMBAS that should back-port to QBasc (for the combat). I have also added the ability to upgrade from Clubmen to Axemen and a lot of unit training/building construction. 8) As stated earlier a Linux command-line version sounds 100% possible! :D

Okay I pretty much finished the player's domestic functions except for resource gathering which is fighting me. I also beat out a framework for enemy AI and have given the game some real goals. Though sadly for now I must put the project on hiatus as I can not access it as the development computer is down.
