Free Empires features Hi, I've just had a look at SR 2.0 and, feeling inspired, I thought it would be a good idea to start a discussion on features we'd like to see included someday!
To get the ball rolling, what do people think of this idea: making the encyclopaedia articles link to Wikipedia articles? Either they could retrieve the information live, or (perhaps better, since it wouldn't require an always-on internet connection) they could contain original content, but with a link to the relevant Wikipedia article on each page.

actualy we were already considering a similar scheme
we were thinking of setting up a special FE wiki and placing a web browser in the game for the encyclpedia
edit: apon correcting some of my own spelling errors on this post I think it may be a good idea too have someone trustworthy too fix ppls errors here.

We are going to have two modes in Free Empires.
1. Classic Empires, acts just like AoE
2. Modern Empires, which has all the new features we are going to add. 8)

A Free Empires Wiki would be a better idea, since we can control what is on the website, and make sure something we link to does not gets deleted.
We can however copy text from Wikipedia since it is under the GNU Free Documentation License, and so would the Free Empires Wiki.

hope theres not too many ages. 3 is enough. Rise of nation over kill it with like 12 ages to upgrade.
klingoncowboy4- 02-03-2008
don't worry I think its somthing like 3 and 4 like AOE

3 or 4 ages is ok. Also hope you can have an option to turn off river maps and diable units for specific wars. USually for Archerwar and Chowar rivers gets annoying.

Well not everyone play all units "REGWAR". We make up our own rules like Archers only or legions only or elephants only ..etc. And with river cross like in AOE1 it takes very long or tie game as we dont use seige thus the game is not going anywhere when river is on usually. Whats why need to have rivers on an off would be a good idea.
And other things to disable and enable like units would be nice cuz then we mix and match different civil with different units strength and weakness to make the game fun or fast or watever. Like cost of unit lower or higher to increase the gameplay fun. This would be an option besides just making it default blanacing only.

Re: Free Empires features Hi, I've just had a look at SR 2.0 and, feeling inspired,
What Flavour of Unix are you using (I.E: Linux Distribution, type of BSD, AIX etc) to run SR 2.0 we would like to add it to our tested in section.

Ubuntu Gutsy.

People Types Another advance FE will will have over AoE is "People Types". They are like "Building Types" only for units. This will fix inaccuracy's like Aztec women wearing European style dresses (in the Conquerers). Each type will have different skin tone, clothing and various other ethnic differences. No we will not be racists! For FE 2 these will be the types: European, Asian, American, African.
