Originally, Wilson Net was created because me and Graham thought it would be fun to make a Web Browser, but now we got a nicer sounding Reason for Making it. It would be nice (For me at least) to have a GPL web browser (Mozilla is MPL) that is not as bloated as Konqueror. 8)

Here is a few Screenshots of Wilson Net;

GNU/Linux Version (Made in Gambas)

Windows Version (Made in Visual Basic 6)

The Windows one is powered by Gecko. The GNU/Linux one uses Konqueror (That is what GAMBAS uses for its web support).

Does it, well I have never seen IE 2, but it is meant to look rather simple as I like simple looking things, fancy looking GUIs I don't like. I haven't actually done anything on the Windows version in about a year as I do not use any Windows computers with any great frequency. The Linux version is there though we rarely work on it.

Simple, you can not at the moment.

We may release a Linux SR before to terribly long, need to get tab browsing working first, which might take some time.

As for the Windows one we have no idea. First we will need access to Visual Basic 6 again...

Seeing that Windows screen shot takes me back, especially considering one of the websites it is viewing is dead!

Currently I am doing a kind of "Rebuild" of Wilson Net on Gambas 2. I have almost all the features ported except for Tabbed Browsing. I wish Gambas could use Gecko instead of Khtml though, it would be a lot more compatible for users of GNOME, XFCE, etc (Especially considering the way Fedora handles Gecko in its repository). For now It will only be for KDE users or those of us who have many X desktops on there systems... Sad

Not that it concerns us, I still think that anyone who just has one desktop on his system is crazy! Laughing I use GNOME primarily though.

It is funny, WilsonNet is really the only utility tool we are after to create. Piga Software is in basics a gaming group, as we think games are one of the elements of Hacker Culture not yet fully taped (see: A Game Development Essay). The thing about WilsonNet that continues is that A: it is a concept we have had since we first started to code in VB 6 and B: we see it as an interesting test ground for features and functions to risky or bizarre to be put into more main-stream browsers. We had once considered making other utilities but Linux already has the best damn utilities of any operating system, and all free software too!
